Rotary creates environments of peace.
As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of our mission. We believe when people work to create peace in their communities, that change can have a global effect. By carrying out service projects and supporting peace fellowships and scholarships, our members take action to address the underlying causes of conflict, including poverty, discrimination, ethnic tension, lack of access to education, and unequal distribution of resources.
There have been over 250 wars since the United Nations was formed to ‘Save succeeding generations from the scourage of war’. How can this be? Survey after survey around the world shows that, after life itself, what people most want is peace. Why then do we still have war? This 6-hour online course invites us to look at the beliefs and thinking, both personal and cultural, that have allowed war to continue for so long;
and to consider what this way of thinking
is costing us and our planet.
Our Mission is to serve as a resource to Rotarians, Rotary clubs, and districts by supporting the peace work of Rotarians worldwide. We think of Rotary as more than a collection of service clubs and think of ourselves as a global peace-building force with Rotarians building a world beyond war.

The Institute for Economics & Peace is creating a paradigm shift in the way the world thinks about peace. We do this through research, consulting, and training, unlocking the power of peace across all three. Our reports - the Global Peace Index, Global Terrorism Index, and Ecological Threat Report, are critical for stakeholders. Central to our ethos is understanding that peace extends beyond the absence of conflict.
Our Eight Pillars of Peace framework identifies eight
critical factors for establishing enduring peace.
